Aso-Oke is a short form of Aso Ilu Oke also known as Aso-Ofi meaning clothes from the up-country. It is the traditional wear mostly from the tribe of the southwest people in Nigeria, Africa. Aso-Oke is a cloth that is worn on special occasions like chieftaincy, festivals, engagement, naming ceremony and other important events. While growing up, the arts of gele do fascinate me a lot. I developed that huge interest in learning how to make one perfectly well so as to look nice in the ‘Owanbes’ click! Unfortunately, it became a passion that never came to past being distracted with other things. Now, it’s almost criminal not to know how to tie your own.
