From Fashion Designer To Africa’s Richest Woman


The Nigerian billionaire business woman is a fashion designer and philanthropist who studied fashion designing in England, she first started learning about fashion from her mum who used to sell fabric by helping out before she went to study fashion designing in 1984.
A year later she came back to Nigeria and started her own fashion house called Supreme Stitches, a premium Nigerian fashion label, selling high-end Nigerian clothing to fashionable wives of military bigwigs and society women. She won best designer in the year 1986 (a year after she started her fashion house).

Within few years, her business became so popular and was turned to Rose of Sharon House of Fashion that became an household name. At a time, she was a National President of Fashion Designers Association Of Nigeria (FDAON) and also a lifelong trustee, she left an indelible mark by promoting Nigerian culture through fashion and style.
In 2013, the Federal government of Nigeria appointed Folorunsho Alakija as vice-chairman of the National Heritage Council and Endowment for the Arts, few months ago precisely January 26, 2016 she was appointed the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University by Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
The beautiful Mother and grandmother gives back to the society with her foundation which is called Rose Sharon Foundation by empowering widows and orphans through scholarships and business grants. She is also founded the Folorunsho Alakija Scholarship Scheme (FASS) which has consistently aided quite a number of indigent Nigerians who can not afford good and quality education.
The 65 years old grandmother is ever stylish, as a fashion designer she always get her styles right and she has been a source of inspiration to most especially women because she has shown that being a woman and a mother is not a limitation to greatness.
